So it seems like there is some throttling that is going on that I don't know about, might be some settings that I missed out on. And recent updates didn't increase requirements by that much (at least from my experience playing on my PC), it was more so Valve didn't properly optimized the game after the release of big new patches (which they have since done quite a bit).Īnd just now before I go out I managed to find the time to test my laptop again, turns out that when playing the game the gpu clocked only at 450mhz but when I am idling in the desktop it clocked at 950 mhz which I think the max gpu clock.
1366X768 DOTA 2 WALLPAPER UPDATE
The most significant update that increases the requirements should be when they port from Source 1 engine to Source 2, which is basically the release of Dota 2 Reborn. The 2015 mentioned is just the release date for the game, not necessarily date of test for the gpu. So, for those who has a laptop with 940MX (GDDR5) gpu, can u guys share me ur fps for each of the basic video settings in Dota 2 (Fastest - Best Looking)? And if anyone somehow know what is happening and can guide me on what to do would be great as well. However it still didn't fix the fps issue by much. Before running Dota 2, the gpu was in idle mode, everything was 0% but when Dota 2 was running it spiked to max performance so I'm assuming that the settings are proper and that the game is using the nvidia gpu to render. And then I tested running Dota 2 again while running gpu-z in the background. Some of the things I did yesterday was I changed in the nvidia control panel global settings to use the nvidia gpu. Right now, I'm not sure if there is some driver problems, sub-optimal laptop settings or hardware issue.
However, it seemed like I didn't get a really good fps compared to the reviews I read about 940MX, even at the lowest setting possible. One of the main thing I tried was to play Dota 2 which is a game I am playing the most. I bought a Lenovo 710s Plus yesterday night and did some installations here and there.
